VI₃ (Vanadium Triiodide)
A layered van der Waals transition-metal halide, space group R3̄ (low-temperature C2/m), in which V³⁺ ions form a honeycomb lattice. It is a ferromagnetic semiconductor (T_c ≈ 50 K) with strong out-of-plane (Ising-like) magnetic anisotropy that retains its ferromagnetism down to the monolayer. This makes VI₃ an important two-dimensional magnetic semiconductor for studying layer-dependent magnetism, magneto-optics, and spintronic van der Waals heterostructures.
Growth method: Chemical vapor transport (CVT).
Sample specifications: Individual crystals measure approximately 3 mm, with a purity of up to 99.9999% (6N), and multiple high-quality single-crystal pieces included in each package.
Exfoliation: Easy — readily cleaved into thin flakes by standard mechanical exfoliation.
