A layered van der Waals transition-metal dichalcogenide with trigonal-prismatic coordination, space group P6₃/mmc. It is metallic and hosts a well-defined charge density wave (CDW) transition (onset ~120 K) coexisting with low-temperature superconductivity (T_c ≈ 0.1–0.2 K in the bulk, enhanced upon thinning). The interplay between CDW order and superconductivity makes 2H-TaSe₂ an important platform for studying competing electronic orders and two-dimensional superconductivity.

Growth method: Chemical vapor transport (CVT).

Sample specifications: Individual crystals measure approximately 3 mm, with a purity of up to 99.9999% (6N), and multiple high-quality single-crystal pieces included in each package.

Exfoliation: Easy — readily cleaved into thin flakes by standard mechanical exfoliation.
