PtBi₂ (Platinum Dibismuthide)
A layered van der Waals transition-metal pnictide that exists in several polymorphs, most notably a trigonal phase (space group P31m) that is non-centrosymmetric. It is a candidate type-I Weyl semimetal hosting topological surface Fermi arcs, exhibits giant and non-saturating magnetoresistance and ultrahigh carrier mobility, and shows superconductivity (including reports of surface superconductivity on its topological states). This rare coexistence of Weyl topology, extreme magnetotransport, and superconductivity makes PtBi₂ an important platform for studying topological semimetal physics and topological superconductivity.
Sample specifications: Individual crystals measure approximately 2–3 mm, with a purity of up to 99.9999% (6N), and multiple high-quality single-crystal pieces included in each package.
Exfoliation: Difficult — strong interlayer bonding; mechanical exfoliation typically yields thick flakes, and ultrathin flakes are challenging to isolate.
Growth method: Flux growth.
