Nb₃TeI₇ (Niobium Telluride Iodide)
The heavier-halide analogue of Nb₃TeCl₇, a layered van der Waals niobium cluster compound in which Nb₃ triangular clusters arrange on a breathing kagome lattice, related to the Nb₃X₈ family. Each Nb₃ cluster carries a localized unpaired spin, making it a cluster magnet / Mott-type magnetic semiconductor with flat electronic bands and candidate obstructed-atomic (topological) insulating character. The mixed telluride–iodide framework brings stronger spin-orbit coupling and modified interlayer coupling relative to the chloride analogue, making Nb₃TeI₇ an emerging platform for studying cluster-based magnetism, flat-band correlated physics, and two-dimensional spintronic barriers.
