MnPS₃ (Manganese Phosphorus Trisulfide)
A transition-metal phosphorus-chalcogenide layered van der Waals antiferromagnet, space group C2/m. The Mn²⁺ honeycomb lattice exhibits a nearly isotropic antiferromagnetic Néel order (T_N ≈ 78 K), with moments oriented almost perpendicular to the layer plane. Its wide-bandgap semiconducting character coexists with two-dimensional antiferromagnetism, making it a model material for studying layered antiferromagnets, magnetic excitons, and spin-phonon coupling, and it has attracted attention for its potential magnetoelectric and nonlinear optical responses.
Growth method: Chemical vapor transport (CVT).
Sample specifications: Individual crystals measure approximately 3 mm, with a purity of up to 99.9999% (6N), and multiple high-quality single-crystal pieces included in each package.
Exfoliation: Easy — readily cleaved into thin flakes by standard mechanical exfoliation.
