MnPS₃ (Manganese Phosphorus Trisulfide)

The sulfur-family isostructural counterpart of MnPSe₃, space group C2/m. The Mn²⁺ honeycomb lattice exhibits a nearly isotropic antiferromagnetic Néel order (T_N ≈ 78 K), with moments oriented almost perpendicular to the layer plane. Its wide-bandgap semiconducting character coexists with two-dimensional antiferromagnetism, making it a model material for studying layered antiferromagnets, magnetic excitons, and spin-phonon coupling, and it has attracted attention for its potential magnetoelectric and nonlinear optical responses.
