VI₂ (Vanadium Diiodide)
A layered van der Waals transition-metal halide, space group P3̄m1, in which V²⁺ ions form a triangular lattice. It is a magnetic (Mott) semiconductor that, owing to geometric frustration, exhibits antiferromagnetic order coupled to a structural distortion at low temperature and shows signatures of type-II multiferroicity. These properties make VI₂ a candidate for studying frustrated triangular-lattice magnetism and magnetoelectric coupling in two dimensions.
Growth method: Chemical vapor transport (CVT).
Sample specifications: Individual crystals measure approximately 3 mm, with a purity of up to 99.9999% (6N), and multiple high-quality single-crystal pieces included in each package.
Exfoliation: Easy — readily cleaved into thin flakes by standard mechanical exfoliation.
