TaS₂ (1T phase) (Tantalum Disulfide)
A layered van der Waals transition-metal dichalcogenide with octahedral coordination, space group P3̄m1. It undergoes a series of charge density wave (CDW) transitions, culminating in a commensurate star-of-David CDW that drives a Mott-insulating state at low temperature; the resulting single unpaired electron per cluster on a triangular lattice makes 1T-TaS₂ a candidate quantum spin liquid. These correlated states make it a central platform for studying CDW physics, Mott localization, and frustrated magnetism.
Growth method: Chemical vapor transport (CVT).
Sample specifications: Individual crystals measure approximately 2 mm, with a purity of up to 99.9999% (6N), and multiple high-quality single-crystal pieces included in each package.
Exfoliation: Easy — readily cleaved into thin flakes by standard mechanical exfoliation.
