Niobium Iridium Tetratelluride (NbIrTe₄)
NbIrTe₄ is a ternary layered van der Waals material and a candidate type-II Weyl semimetal, structurally related to the Td phase of WTe₂ and MoTe₂. It adopts an orthorhombic structure with space group Pmn2₁, forming a polar, non-centrosymmetric lattice. This broken symmetry gives rise to paired, well-separated Weyl points in momentum space, making it regarded as a "minimal" model of a type-II Weyl semimetal. Experimentally, it exhibits large magnetoresistance, nontrivial Berry curvature, and transport signatures of a compensated semimetal, making it an important platform for studying topological semimetal physics.
